Light

Light is atransverse wave consisting of energy in the form of electric and magnetic fields. The directions vibrate in right angles.

The speed of light is symbol c on the reference table. The speed of light in a vacuum is c = 3.00 x 108 m/s. The electromagnetic spectrum is:

Wavefronts and Rays

Rays indicate the direction of wavefront motion.

-Circular wavefronts = radical lines

-Plane wavefronts = parallel lines

Reflection is the change in direction of a wave front at an interface between two different media so that the wave front returns to the medium from which it originated.

Law of Reflection

Angle Of Incidence (qi) = Angle Of Reflection (qr)
qi = qr

Types of Reflection

Specular Reflection
-Smooth Surfaces
-Usually Produces and Image of The Source
-Mirrors

Diffuse Reflection
-Rough Surfaces
-Scattered Light
-Each Individual Ray Follows The Rule of Reflection

I feel like with the review sheets and the pre-quiz we were more prepared for the quiz on waves. It was much more similar. I feel it is the way to go, really modeling the pre-quiz after the real quiz. I hope our grades reflected this. Mr. Wirth if you could continue todo this I think it would be very beneficial. I also feel like the way you are presenting this unit to us is much more affective! I am not 100% sure what it is but I at least am understanding things a little better! Good Job! Hopefully we will all start catching on! Thank you for not giving up on us!

in a medium the speed and the wavelength of a light wave are smaller and slower than in a vacuum
